Georgia’s Host saluted at Werribee on Saturday winning the Tobin Brothers Fillies and Mares Bench Mark 64 handicap over 1425m.

Given a gun ride by Jason Maskiell she jumped OK and settled mid field about three lengths off the leader. She held her position and on the turn attempted a rails run. She was held up and using his experience and judgement Maskiell decided to push wide, a gap opened and under urgings she showed her usual determination and took the run. Georgia reeled in the leaders and once in front was never headed and went on to win by 1.5 lengths easing up.

It was a change in fortune for Gerorgia, she finally drew a barrier and had the benefit of a soft track. She is a genuine horse and gives everything when she races. She is admired by her owners and trainers for her tenacity and it is often said “We would love a stable full of horses like her.”

Georgia has raced 21 times for 3 wins 4 seconds and 4 thirds, she has won $70,370 for her connections.

Congratulations to all connections and to the team at Cornish Gaskin Racing.

Georgia will now have a short spell and be brought back for an autumn and winter campaign. All connections will be hoping for more soft/heavy tracks.
