Georgia’s Host was a convincing winner of the Bet 365 benchmark 58 1400m handicap at Seymour on Tuesday the 14th of July.

Racing on a soft 6 rated track, carrying 60kgs and drawing the car park, barrier 13, it was going to take an exceptional ride from gun hoop Dean Holland to have her in the finish.

She was away Ok and Holland had no option but to  have her 3 off the fence, about 10 lengths off the leader. Settling, she continued to race in this position until about the 600m post where Holland, acting on instructions, asked her to quicken. Starting her run at the 200m post she had to go 6 wide on the turn still giving the leaders 10 lengths. Holland understanding that she can have a flat spot at times during a race urged her on with some vigorous riding. She responded and showing the turn of foot that she is known for quickly made up ground and reeled in the leaders, she hit the front about 20m from the winning post and wearing the new stable colours went on to win, going away, by a clear length and a quarter.

A combination of Mick and Donna selecting the right race, a perfect ride by Dean and a truly gutsy effort by the mare saw her collect her 4th win from 28 starts, she’s also had 5 seconds and 5 thirds for a total prize money of $88,540.

Congratulations to all connections, strong supporters of the stable, this win was well deserved. Congratulations must also go to team Cornish/Gaskin for displaying all the care and attention that it took to make this win possible.
