Mick Cornish and Donna Gaskin

Mick has been training thoroughbred racehorses for more than 15 years and Donna for 12 years. They are hard working trainers with a hands on approach. Attention to detail is paramount. They both ride the horses in track work so they know how each horse is progressing. Training for both Mick and Donna is a passion, not a business.

Prior to commencing his training career, Mick worked as an amateur rider, breaking and pre-training for trainers such as Brendan McCarthy and Mick Price.

Donna was also an amateur rider before she began her training career and had worked as foreperson at Macedon Lodge, caretaker of Bel Esprit and Macedon Lady.

Mick and Donna thrive on the excitement and satisfaction of training winners for their owners. They get enjoyment out of teaching young horses how to race. A personal career highlight was General Bayton coming first in the listed Auries's Star handicap. 

Cornish Gaskin Racing offers training, pre-training and breaking services. The stable facilities are located adjacent the Echuca Racecourse, ideally located to most Victorian and New South Wales racecourses.

We have access to sand hills in the Barmah Forest which are used as an alternative to track work. The climate is ideal for all-year-round training. Our horses thrive in the relaxed country atmosphere.

We have 16 boxes across 2 well ventilated barns, 17 spacious undercover day yards, 2 day paddocks, access to the swimming facilities at the Echuca Race Course, an eight horse Iron Gate walker, a High Speed Performance Treadmill for conditioning and maintaining fitness and a Deep Sand Training Ring & Sand Roll.
