Echuca Double

Cornish Gaskin Racing had a successful day at Echuca on Monday winning two races on the ten race card.
One of the stable favorites, Cisco Delago,won the Moama Bowling Club, 1600m, Benchmark 64 handicap and his stable mate Liberty's Warrior won Heat 1 of the Murray Mallee Sprinters Series, 1200m handicap. Both horses were given a perfect ride by top hoop Dean Holland.
Cisco was first out of the barriers and settled in third position. He maintained this position throughout the race until about 200m from the post where he was eased out in to the open and under vigorous riding from Holland hit the front going on to win by 3/4 of a length. Cisco will now target the Murray Mallee Stayers Series with the stable and his owners hoping that he can go on to make the final once again.
Congratulations to the owners, Norm Gaskin, Bill McLean, John Bennett, Jack Bridges, Ross Morgan, Keith Pelham, Bryan Milne and Bob Bird. Cisco has now won connections $83,435 in prize money.
Liberty's Warrior jumped cleanly and settled in fourth position. He held his ground and worked up to third about 400m from the post, under urgings from Holland he took a rails run hitting the front about 20m from the post, going on to win by a head. He will have a short spell and come back in time for the final of the Sprint Series.
