Mildura Success

Jul 07, 2015

Cornish Gaskin Racing had a successful day at Mildura yesterday with one win, two thirds and a fourth from four starters. All ridden by Dean Holland.

Prince Al Maher finally produced, during a race, the form he has been showing on the training track, when he won race four, the 1300m Betfair Power To The Punter Maiden, at his fourteenth start. Dean Holland once again produced a gem of a ride. Prince Al Maher jumped awkwardly and landed in last position, Holland showed patience and worked his way through the field remaining on the rails. At about the 500m mark he had to be steadied after being blocked by another runner. Rounding the turn he had worked into eighth position, Holland decided to remain on the fence taking the shortest way home, this decision proved to be a winner with Prince Al Maher hitting the front and holding on to 0.1 length win.

All Credit to Mick, Donna, track rider Billy and apprentice jockey Lorelle for finally finding the solution to Al's tricks.

Congratulations to the remaining members of the Tri Star Syndicate for showing patience and faith and sticking with the horse. Your success is well deserved.

Mary's Discretion, first up, produced a rattling run in finishing fourth coming from last at the 400m to be beaten by only 2.55 lengths. According to Holland she is not far away from another win.

Jaffar, also first up, run his usual honest race and finished third beaten by 0.07 of a length to a horse carrying 4.5 kilos less. Holland believes that he is back to his best and should be in for a good prep.

Cisco Delago was unlucky in his run and finished third beaten by .03 of a length to a horse carrying five kilos less. Holland was forced to go early on him which probably cost him the race. He was full of praise for his fighting effort and believes that more wins are not far away.
