It was no surprise to her connections and the team at Cornish Gaskin Racing that Hi Suppose, a daughter of High Chatparral, won the 1300m Maiden Plate at Mildura yesterday. 

Racing on a good 4 she was quickly away. Riding perfectly to instructions, Brad Vale had her settled in the one - one. She travelled sweetly during the run and on approaching the turn was challenged on the outside by the favourite. Taking the only option available to him Vale kicked up in order not to be caught in a pocket,  Forced to lead earlier than wanted she was able to put 2 - 3 lengths on the leaders, with vigorous riding and with the courage that she has shown in earlier races, Hi suppose was able to hang on and win by a length.

The stable has had a high opinion of her since early days. Although it has taken seven starts to break her maiden status, which can be explained by a combination of bad luck and strong Vobis fields, bigger things are expected going forward.

Her record now stands at 7 starts,  1 win, 2 seconds and 1 third, she has now earned $29,225 in prize money.
