BRUCE ALMIGHTY
Jan 20, 2018
I’m The Boss, fondly known by the stable and connections as ‘Bruce’ put on a virtuoso performance, aided by the ‘Ride Of The Day’ from the mercurial Nikita Beriman, at Ballarat on Tuesday the 16th.
Jumping from barrier 5 in the 1400m Bench Mark 58 handicap, I’m The Boss was quickly away, finding the inside runners pushing forward Beriman had no option but to let I’m The Boss settle mid field, three wide. He relaxed and travelled nicely in this position up until Beriman asked him to improve on entering the straight. He pushed forward and on gaining clear air began to improve rapidly. At about the 200m mark he reeled in the leaders and hit the front, never headed he went on to win by three quarters of a length. It was a superb performance by horse and rider.
I’m The Boss is a 6y.o. gelding by Churchill Downs/Miss Boss, bought as a ‘tried horse’ he had a scratchy beginning but after some tender loving care and a good spell he has improved markedly. He has now won $65,478 in prize money and this win takes his record to 3 wins, 6 seconds and 5 thirds from 28 starts. He is a firm favourite at the stable and with connections because of his relaxed demeanour and his ‘never say die’ attitude to racing.
Congratulations to the team at Cornish Gaskin Racing and to all connections for your patience and loyalty.
