Star of Man demolished his opposition when winning the Murphy’s Turf & Landscaping, 1200m, maiden plate at Echuca on Monday.

Ridden to perfection by stable apprentice Mikaela Claridge, he pinged the gates, from barrier 9 and showing explosive speed, crossed the field and took up the lead at the 800m mark. Approaching the bend Mikaela asked him to quicken and on entering the straight he slipped away, extended his lead and was never challenged.  He went on to win by 5.5 lengths.

Shin splints and immaturity hampered his performances in his first preparation but that seems to be behind him now and he has matured into a horse that is enjoying racing. 

Star of Man has now won $16,050 for connections.
