Cranbourne Thriller

Jan 05, 2019

Left Jaybee Out and stable apprentice Mikaela Claridge provided a thrilling finish to the 1000m Core Protective Group Bench Mark 64 at Cranbourne yesterday.

Jumping from barrier 5 Claridge had Left Jaybee Out quickly away and was able to cross and take up her customary position at the head of the field.

Establishing a lead and travelling well, Left Jaybee Out lead by 2 lengths as she turned for home. With the field closing and with memories of just being beaten on the line at Caulfield  recently, it was heart in the mouth stuff. Claridge who is riding with class, courage and conviction never panicked and under vigorous riding she was able to hang on to win by a neck.

Left Jaybee Out has now raced 22 times for 5 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds, with prize money of $103,839. This preparation she has had 5 starts with 2 wins, 2 seconds and once unplaced. Mikaela has established an enviable strike rate with her having ridden her 3 times for 2 wins and a second.

Congratulations to all connections and to the team at Cornish Gaskin Racing.
